The first step is to choose the stone type and color. Then, the granite block is
cut from bedrock using
drilling or water jets.
Workers drill holes in the quarry bed, insert explosives, and blast the granite
block free. A derrick
lifts the block onto a truck for transport to the manufacturer.
Granite slabs are cut into smaller pieces using a diamond saw, then polished to
a glossy finish with
abrasive pads. Finally, the edges are hand-chiseled for a unique shape.
At Rocky Mountain Monument, you'll work with experienced designers to create a
custom headstone in a
private setting. They'll use software to visualize the design, ensuring it's the perfect memorial for
your loved one.
A stencil is applied to the headstone, then sandblasted to create the design.
The stone is cleaned, polished, and inspected.
